Awareness

Need or Greed?

This weeks I look at compulsive automatic behaviour..

It's a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning in this broken world

This weeks I look at compulsive automatic behaviour. Can the practice of honest awareness allow us to question whether we really need something or whether it is greed driving us. Sugar, alcohol, social media, internet shopping, negative thinking, the list could go on and on! This is not about withholding things from oneself only pausing for a moment before 'consumption' so that we are in charge of our actions and not at the mercy of old patterns and habits.

Through this practice we can begin to let go of old patterns and create new positive habits, this creates new neuropathways in the brain -neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity keeps the brain active, changing and more open and adaptable to further change. New habits take on average 66 days to imprint themselves so this pause and question  and the practice of awareness needs to be repeated often both on and off the yoga mat

...easier said than done!
